SONA 2019: Akufo- Addo’s calls for unity to end vigilantism

President Akufo-Addo prior to ending his speech in delivering his state of the nation address gave the need for the two major political parties to come together to resolve this vigilantism menace.

The presidents call is in reference to recent happenings that marred the Ayawaso west wuogon by elections where some controversial masked men came to the scene wielding weapons causing fear and panic among the voters .

This incident necessitated the formation of the Emile Short commission tasked to probe the incidents that caused violence during the by election.

Another unfortunate incident was at the NDC Kumasi headquarters where after a scuffle between alleged vigilante groups the hawks led to the death of one person .

In his speech president Akufo-Addo gave assurance of his resolve to put an end to political vigilantism hence his call to the major political parties to come together to fight this menace.
