NDC candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Delali Kwesi Brempong has revealed that nine armed security men were stationed in his house on election day by the Police Service.
As he narrated events of the Ayawaso by-election violence to the Commission on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, Delali Kwesi Brempong said: “when I got to my residence, there were lots of cars parked and lots of people around. When they saw my car, they came to me and asked me to come and see ‘something’. I saw pools of blood.”
According to him, Chief Superintendent Kwesi Fori and other policemen walk him to his office in his house, after interacting with them they decided to leave behind some policemen for protection.
Reacting to comments from the SWAT boss DSP Samuel Azugu that gunshots were heard from his house, Delali Brempong stated that the information given by the Police cannot be true because he has no weapon in his house.
“I want to put on record that my house is not a warehouse. It is a 7-bedroom house with private working spaces. I have never lawfully or unlawfully acquired firearms in my life.”
“There was no evidence that anyone had brought any arms to my house. There’s no evidence of shooting inside my house, but there’s an abundance of evidence of shooting outside my house,” he added.
