St. Peter’s Senior High School (SHS) also known as Persco, has won its third National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) tittle in a much tensed grand finale contest of the 2o18 edition which featured West Africa SHS and Adisadel College.
The school has ended a 12-year drought.
The Nkwatia-based school beat West Africa SHS to the title by a single point after trailing through the first four rounds.
Adisadel College took an early lead in the first three rounds while St. Peter’s SHS followed, with West Africa SHS taking the last spot.
At the end of round four, West Africa SHS took a commanding lead with two point difference between their closest contenders St. Peter’s SHS. Adisadel College trailed the round with 36 points.
West Africa SHS answered the first riddle correctly while St. Peter’s picked the second and third riddle for 6 points hence talking a one point lead.
Both St. Peter’s and West Africa SHS answered the last riddle wrongly! Adisadel answer correctly for three points. Persco wins!!!
At the end of the tense contest, St. Peter’s SHS, represented by Kissi Annoh Kwaku and Fenny Benjamin, won the contest with 45 points, West Africa SHS had 44 points whilst Adisadel College trailed with 39 points.
Adisadel College and West Africa SHS started off this year’s competition as seeded schools; while St Peter’s started off in the preliminary stages because of its weak performances in the previous year despite being regarded as a science and math powerhouse.
