I take delight in watching people’s WhatsApp statuses a lot and I know I’m not alone in this sneaky business simply because, mine gets about a hundred and ten views on the average when I do upload them. It was on one of such sneaky sprees that I got chatting with a friend who uploads great content on her status space most of time. We had seen one interesting picture we were talking about when she said “people like you are gifts unwrapped.” For a second I paused, and read what she had typed again and I realized there was something I couldn’t miss in that statement, “GIFTS UNWRAPPED”… and of course, that changed the conversation.
Have you ever thought of how frustrating it would be to have a fragile parcel you couldn’t open up no matter how hard you tried? If its packaging was superb, it could probably end up in some corner as a decoration piece and that will be the end of its story. But what if that parcel was actually you? Yhh, you in person?
There are gifts that are wrapped in ways only their designers can unwrap, just like tied knots. Instances like those demand patience and trust, because, it may have taken that designer so much time to do the wrapping and therefore the unwrapping process will need similar time.
So many of us have so much to offer to the world and we yearn for that day we can say to ourselves “this is it!”. We wish so much that the world would believe in us; believe in our voices, our smiles, our ideas, our dances, our hope-filled messages, our random thoughts that light up passion in people and the very things that we know are peculiar to us. So we try so hard to find our feet in life and it makes us wonder if there is anything more to our lives than we have already seen and whether it is worth our struggle.
But just like the gift, let us remember that we are God’s gift unwrapped; one He alone can unwrap. The only reason why we may be still wrapped up is because He is waiting to act in the time He deems right for the world to see us. Ours is to trust the One whose word tells us, “for the revelation awaits an appointed time. It speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger wait for it, it will certainly come.”
You were carefully wrapped up for a special time, until you see that time recorded in the world’s history, learn to appreciate and endure every bit of the unwrapping process and don’t give up.
